About the Project
StoryRunners is an organization under Cru that focuses on translating and communicating biblical texts for communities with a tradition of oral storytelling. They are a pioneer within the field, completing projects in weeks instead of years, thanks to their innovative approach.
After 20 years, their branding had fallen behind, no longer representing their identity as a cutting-edge organization. This project provided StoryRunners with a logo, color palette, and typographic rules detailed in a brand style guide.
A dated look was replaced with a striking, modern logo that better carries the brand’s story.
Logo Story
Energy. Movement. Innovation. Community.
These are a few of the ideas that StoryRunners wanted their new brand to embody. The icon of the flame became a center of this identity - fire has always been an icon of human innovation. Transcending cultures and historical eras, humans have gathered around the fire to share stories and engage with their communities. This modern, simple logo mark helps to communicate the heart of StoryRunners.
The logotype was derived from Bebas Neue, a modern sans-serif typeface. With subtle updates to the characters, the font takes on a sharper look with the sense of forward motion highlighted. This logotype, when combined with the mark, begins to help StoryRunners tell their own story.
Brand Expression
As proof of concept, I presented a collection of brand expression pieces to demonstrate how the style guide could be applied to a wide range of projects.
“Emily is a talented and articulate graphic designer who developed a re-branded logo and look for StoryRunners so that we could more effectively tell our story.”
StoryRunners is all about developing oral Bible stories for the unreached, but it is important that we tell our story well to people considering joining us in prayer, giving, and going. Emily is a talented and articulate graphic designer who developed a re-branded logo and look for StoryRunners so that we could more effectively tell our story. I wholeheartedly recommend her to you.
